REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) FOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR NEW UNION COUNTY JAIL IN
LAKE BUTLER, FLORIDA

The Union County Board of County Commissioners is requesting written responses from qualified construction firms to provide professional At-Risk Construction Management Services for the Budgeting and Construction Phase on the new proposed Union County Jail (Phase 2 and 3 of the new Public Safety Complex). Facility is to include demolition of site elements and sitework. The approximate budget for construction and all other activities is $13,870,100.00.
Deadline to submit: January 13, 2025
Bids will be opened in the BOCC meeting room of the Union County Courthouse, located at 55 W Main St, Lake Butler, FL 32054, on 01/14/2025 at 9:00am or soon thereafter.

Public Notices

Union County Board of County Commissioners Offices will be closed from December 23, 2024 through December 25, 2024 for the Christmas holiday. Offices will reopen on December 26, 2024 at regular operating hours. County Collection Sites will be open on December 23, 2024 but will close on December 24, 2024 and December 25, 2024. Sites will reopen at normal operating hours on December 26, 2024.

FEMA REPORTING:

Union County has been declared for FEMA Disaster Assistance for damages from Hurricane Helene.  Union County residents who suffered home damages and losses due to Hurricane Helene are eligible to file a claim with FEMA.  To apply, residents may call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362, apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, or apply by downloading the FEMA App from their phone’s app store.  If any resident has already filed a claim with FEMA for Hurricane Helene, they should call FEMA back to update their claim, since Union County is now declared.

Please Note: County and State cleanup crews are not permitted to enter Private Property to pickup debris.

 

Small Business Association – Disaster Assistance

Private Non-Profits:

ATLANTA –The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today that certain Private Non-Profit organizations (PNPs) in Florida that do not provide critical services of a governmental nature may be eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans for damages as a result of Hurricane Helene that occurred on Sept. 23.

Eligible PNP organizations in Alachua, Bradford, Charlotte, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Hernando, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla and Union counties may apply. Examples of eligible non-critical PNP organizations include, but are not limited to, food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers, schools, and colleges.

Small Business and Residential Loans:

ATLANTA – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today the addition of seven primary counties and ten adjacent counties to the disaster declaration for Hurricane Helene that began on Sept. 23, giving more businesses and residents eligibility to apply for SBA’s low-interest disaster loan program.

The declaration covers Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Franklin, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Leon, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Putnam, Sarasota, Suwannee, Taylor, Union and Wakulla counties which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs): Bay, Broward, Calhoun, Clay, DeSoto, Flagler, Gadsden, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Liberty, Marion, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Polk, St. Johns, Sumter, Volusia in Florida; Brooks, Charlton, Clinch, Echols, Grady, Lowndes, Thomas and Ware in Georgia.

Disaster survivors should not wait to settle with their insurance company before applying for a disaster loan. If a survivor does not know how much of their loss will be covered by insurance or other sources, SBA can make a low-interest disaster loan for the total loss up to its loan limits, provided the borrower agrees to use insurance proceeds to reduce or repay the loan. 

Business Recovery Center:

ATLANTA – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today that it opened a Business Recovery Center (BRC) on Friday, Oct. 4, at the SPC Epicenter at St. Petersburg College, in Clearwater. The SBA is opening the Center to assist businesses and residents who were affected by Hurricanes Debby and Helene.

SBA’s Customer Service Representatives are available at the Centers to answer questions, assist business owners complete their disaster loan application, accept documents, and provide updates on an application’s status. Walk-ins are accepted, but you can schedule an in-person appointment at an SBA Business Recovery Center in advance. The Centers will operate as listed below.
